Authentic and large hand-held candlestick (or night candlestick) in glazed stoneware from the 1960s. This superb modernist piece is a creation by the famous Quimper ceramist Jean-Sébastien Le Pemp, known by his artisan name Bastian (1931-2019), trained at the renowned avant-garde pottery Keraluc. The candlestick features a sculptural silhouette typical of the French Mid-Century style, enhanced by a shiny speckled glaze in deep shades of brown, chocolate, and beige. A collectible piece fully hand-signed under the base "Bastian Quimper" in drypoint on the raw clay (see photos). Dimensions: Height 16 cm | Width (with handle) 15.5 cm. Very good vintage condition, beautiful glaze shine, no major cracks [presence of a micro-chip inside]. Ideal for adding a brutalist or bohemian chic touch to a Scandinavian sideboard or coffee table.
