Handcrafted bowl with arabesque decoration

Beige patinated terracotta dish with a design of scrolls and arabesques. This dish is a piece of ceramic of the "slipware" type (ceramics with slip), probably of European origin (English or contemporary studio pottery inspired by British traditions). The continuous black scrolls/arabesques motif on a cream/beige background is a signature of their production in slip trailing (slip applied by hand or with a pouch). They create very similar pieces with fluid circular decorations in brown/black on a light background. It is a handcrafted piece from the 20th century or contemporary, inspired by historical English slipware traditions (Staffordshire, etc.), but produced by a modern family workshop. In good condition.
