Porcelain dolphin

Magnificent double kaiser bisque porcelain figurine of dolphins jumping on a wave. It was designed by wolfgang gawantka, kaiser mold #509. Exquisite, graceful detail on their heads, bodies and natural pose. Gawantka, born in dresden (germany), studied at the meissen school of art and joined kaiser in west germany after emigrating to east germany. The piece is in very fine to mint condition with no damage or wear. The sculpture measures at 12-5/8" long, 7-1/4" high and 4-3/4" wide. It is marked on the bottom in blue ink with the kaiser logo and “kaiser w. Germany ". Incised “509” identifies the mold number. Crack on one of the dolphins.
