Primitive Folk Art Side Chair

Traditional antique mountain chair from southern Germany. This characteristic and primitive chair is entirely handmade and assembled with mortise and tenon joints. This example is made of pine and was once painted an ochre/orange color. This old paint has worn off in many places, giving the chair a beautiful patina. Minimal signs of wear are visible, such as some old woodworm holes scattered throughout. These have, of course, been checked and treated. The chair is sturdy and suitable for daily use. It dates back to around 1800-1850. Seat height 45cm, back height 88cm, width 40cm, depth 38cm.
