Pair of chairs designed by André Sornay, an iconic figure in post-war French design, and produced towards the end of the 1950s. Each chair rests on a solid mahogany frame, assembled using Sornay's patented straight-leg system. The seat is upholstered in cream bouclé fabric, soft to the touch and visually warm, while the veneer backs add a touch of understated elegance. The balance between constructive rationality and comfort makes this a duo as functional as it is aesthetic, ideal for a refined interior. Seat height: 48 cm Manufacturer: Sornay Meubles, Lyon, circa 1955. Bibliography: Signed Sornay, Galerie Alain Marcelpoil, July 2010 - similar models p. 305. Ref: 7127.
