A sculptural table lamp in the form of a stylized tulip, entirely hand-woven in rattan and wicker over a wire armature. The flower-head shade rises on a slender wrapped stem flanked by two woven leaves, terminating in a tripod-style ring base of the same gilt-toned material. The basket-weave technique gives the piece a warm, textural surface that catches the light beautifully when illuminated. This kind of figurative, nature-inspired wickerwork was a hallmark of French decorative lighting in the 1960s, when designers and ateliers turned to rattan and cane as an organic counterpoint to the era’s sleeker materials. The tulip form here is a particularly charming and unusual example — equally at home as a sculptural accent piece or a working lamp. Rewired and in great vintage condition, fitted with a single E27 socket. Details: • Origin: France. • Period: 1960s, Mid-Century Modern. • Materials: Rattan, wicker, wire armature. • Height: 68 cm. • Condition: Very good vintage condition. • Light bulb: 1 X E27.
