Campaign furniture, an antique kitchen piece from the Art Deco period around 1925 made of Pine (Larch) with 6 storage compartments on black ball feet at the front. Two large side doors lock and provide access to a storage area with a shelf. Between these two cupboards, there are 3 drawers topped with a flap that opens with their original metal handles. The back panel incorporates a circular ventilation system with five staggered perforations, historically used to regulate indoor humidity (often related to the preservation of documents or goods). The transport label is still present on the back: "Chemins de fer d'Alsace et de Lorraine" / "P.V." (Petite Vitesse) / "Mark and No. E.K." In the workshop, Alfred has completely cleaned and sanded it. He restored the top to present this piece all beautiful and clean. The sideboard is then ready to be used in its "natural" version with its remarkable light striped grain. For those with a decorative spirit, here is a support for painting as desired. A bit of history: The mentioned network "Chemins de fer d'Alsace et de Lorraine" (AL) existed under this name during the period when Alsace-Moselle was attached to the German Empire (under the name of Elsass-Lothringen), and continued to operate after 1918 until the creation of the SNCF in 1938. This piece originated between 1871 and 1938. Did you know. The five ventilation holes indicate that it was a master sideboard, a piece of trade furniture or a storage piece for provisions/clothing of the time, a design that disappeared with the industrialisation of furniture in the 40s and 60s. Dimensions (cm): L140 X D55 X H95.
