Wim Fiege Mid-Century Modern Ceramic Coupe, 1950s

Wim Fiege Mid-century modern studio pottery bowl, Netherlands, 1950s. This is a wonderful small ceramic "slip" bowl by Dutch artist Wim Fiege (1914-1978). He used slip to give his works a distinctive decoration. Slips are liquid clay applied to hard or dry ceramics that become opaque after firing. They are used for functional or decorative purposes. This is a typical piece of mid-20th-century studio pottery, with a very elegant and stylish decoration. A small marvel to place on a desk, sideboard, or in a display cabinet. In good vintage condition, signed underneath the base.
