A collectible piece of great poetry, this flower vase (ikebana) in glazed stoneware, dated from the 1950s to 1960s, embodies the revival of French ceramics in the mid-20th century. It was created by the ceramist Noël Vassard (1914–1976) at the Atelier de Sainte-Radegonde in Touraine. Its organic pebble-like silhouette, with free and balanced lines, makes it a true sculptural piece. The stylised floral decoration, applied to the slip in natural tones of ochre, brown, and olive green, subtly interacts with the raw texture of the stoneware and the shine of the glaze, creating a refined and vibrant visual relief. Designed as much for the art of floral arrangement (ikebana, dried or fresh flowers) as for a decorative object in its own right, it stands out elegantly on a sideboard or shelf. Authenticity is guaranteed by the embossed monogram "NV" under the base, perfectly legible. Dimensions: H 13 cm X W 10 cm. In good overall condition. Note a small original glaze skip, related to the artisanal firing, which does not affect its sturdiness and adds to the charm and authenticity of the piece. A sensitive and timeless ceramic, ideal for Mid-Century, brutalist, bohemian chic, or contemporary decor.
