Poul Volther model Diva 981 for Gemla, Sweden

Sophisticated mid-20th century sofa bed, model 981, designed by Poul Volther and manufactured by Gemla in Denmark around 1960. Nicknamed "Diva", this piece features a solid oak structure in excellent original condition. The frame unfolds to form a daybed. Recently reupholstered in a beautiful moss green Kvadrat fabric, this sofa bed perfectly illustrates functionalism and craftsmanship. Poul Volther, a renowned Danish furniture designer, trained as a cabinetmaker and studied furniture design at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts.
