Charles allard is a belgian painter, born in tournai on april 6, 1860 and died in brussels on february 7, 1921. Student of léonce legendre at the academy of fine arts in tournai where he then taught from 1884 to 1920. Very good watercolorist, he painted his region as well as the places where he traveled. He is father fernand allard l'olivier (1883-1933), famous post-impressionist traveling painter known for his africanist paintings. In 1910, he lived in paris and spent his holidays in brittany. It is therefore certain that his father, charles allard, painted this view of rue dom morice while he was visiting fernand in brittany around 1910.
