Old tomb chest

Magnificent tomb commode in Louis XV style, made of solid cherry wood (early 20th century). This high-quality curved piece of furniture is in exceptional original condition, perfectly preserved, sound, stable, and functional. Structure, fronts, sides, and top in solid cherry wood. Original light, bright, and warm hue. The top is made of cherry wood boards assembled in a frame with rounded and bevelled edges. Drawers: 3 large drawers all in solid wood, securely joined with dovetail joints. The curved fronts perfectly follow the lines of the piece. The openings and closures are smooth. The top drawer is equipped with a functional lock (1 key provided). Each drawer is adorned with 2 hanging handles and a finely chiselled bronze lock entry, depicting scenes of fantastic horses. The lower band of the piece is scalloped, decorated, and hand-carved (scroll and acanthus leaf motifs). The 4 legs are curved and end in typical Louis XV style rolls. The piece has been fully cleaned, treated, and waxed. There are discreet signs of age and use that are normal for its age, giving it a unique authentic patina. Dimensions: Width: 110 cm, Depth: 58 cm, Height: 81 cm. The internal measurements of the drawers vary slightly from one to another, except for the height of 12 cm. Widths range from 80 to 83 cm. Depths range from 42 to 47 cm.
