Antique Candelabrum

Antique candelabrum of handcrafted manufacture, most likely dating back to the early 1950s, made of bronze/brass and commonly referred to by the locals as Sipaho Khorlo (or Srid-pa-ho), one of the most famous astrological diagrams and protective amulets of Tibetan Buddhism. Iconography and Symbolism: this beautiful artifact has been forged and shaped in a secular style, blending Chinese astrology with Tibetan cosmology. The centre (Mewa) represents the grid with the 9 magical squares linked to numbers and astrological elements. The middle ring (Parkha) represents the 8 trigrams derived from the Ching tradition. The outer ring faithfully represents the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Finally, we have the cosmic turtle: the entire mandala is supported by the body of the turtle, which represents the manifestation of Manjushri (the bodhisattva of wisdom). This is a fascinating decorative and ritual object, conceived as a spiritual shield to ward off negative astrological influences. This artifact is of extreme beauty and rarity, making it impossible to find an identical or even vaguely similar object; it is a special opportunity to bring home something unique.
