A beautiful set of six flat plates in ceramic by Olivier Roy, a French ceramist based in Vallauris. Made in the early 1970s, these plates feature a square shape with gently rounded corners, characteristic of the utilitarian pottery created by Olivier Roy during this period. They have a slightly nuanced white glaze, highlighted by a delicate brown line that enhances their very graphic design. Each piece bears a handwritten signature or mark on the back, some with the mention "Made in France," attesting to the artisanal nature of this production. Olivier Roy (1942-2014) settled in Vallauris in 1962 and worked notably with Gustave Reynaud before opening his own workshop. In the 1970s, he primarily created tableware in glazed earthenware before gradually shifting his focus towards unique pieces and sculpture.
