Victorian Chesterfield leather canapé with oak lion claw feet.

We are delighted to offer for sale this original Swedish Chesterfield sofa in aged brown leather, fully restored around 1860-1880, completely re-sprung with hand-carved oak lion's paw feet. The base of this sofa is very decorative and exceptionally comfortable for a Chesterfield. It is fully re-sprung, including the seat base, backrest, and armrests. The backrest is higher than a traditional English version, providing good back support. The base platform features a traditional Victorian hand-spiral spring, including the front panel which is also re-sprung, offering unique comfort as the support follows your movements. The hand-carved lion's paw feet are rare and loosely based on a 17th-century design, adding a very special aspect to the sofa. Dimensions: Height: 86.5 cm, Width: 194 cm, Depth: 96.5 cm. Measurements taken at the widest point. The item is available for collection from our warehouse in Pulborough. Please refer to the detailed photos for the condition and note that the original leather has a natural patina due to age with creases and wear. We recommend annual polishing to retain moisture. It is advised not to expose this hand-dyed leather to prolonged direct sunlight.
