Tapestry of a gallant scene

Beautiful and large hanging from the workshops of éditions d'art de rambouillet. This is a reproduction of one of the 6 tapestries from the beginning of the 16th century dedicated to lordly life, kept at the cluny museum. Celebrating love as a refined game, the lady, served by the pages, is at the center of attention as the ideal object of chivalric conquest. Against a backdrop of "millefleurs", the landscape is brought to life by the presence of animals which dot the composition. The process of reproduction by screen printing as well as the composition are explained in a note attached to the hanging. The reverse side is lined with burlap with hooks for hanging. It is in very good general condition, no major defects, minimal signs of wear on the lower edges (see photos). It has been dusted and dry cleaned.
