Large oriental carpet bukhara in wool. Made by turkmen tribes in east turkestan, central asia. In the past, the city of bukhara was a place of commerce for these carpets. Today, carpets bear the respective names of the various tribes and their generic name is now "turkmen carpets". Today, the term "bukhara carpet" is used instead for carpets that bear a particular motif, the bukhara motif, which is a repetitive design using the gel or gul motif. Here we find the gul pattern with flowered crosses of the salor. Very good condition.
