Height-adjustable table in oak and ceramic – Guillerme & Chambron, France

Superb extendable table by Guillerme & Chambron for Votre Maison, a true icon of French design from the 1960s. It combines the nobility of solid oak with a deep red glazed ceramic top, decorated with stylised black and gold patterns inspired by nature and animal figures. The top consists of 16 tiles, one of which, depicting a hen (3rd row, 4th tile), has a fine crack, which does not affect its sturdiness or the visibility of the design. Its ingenious lift mechanism allows it to be used as both a coffee table and a dining table. The sculptural base in solid oak, with visible joints and characterful lines, perfectly illustrates the craftsmanship of the duo.
