Guillerme et Chambron, French sculpted oak

Robert Guillerme (1913-1990) and Jacques Chambron (1914-2001) signed for thirty years one of the most recognisable French furniture lines of the post-war boom. Based in Thouars, their Votre Maison workshop developed from 1949 onwards a singular vocabulary: turned solid oak, exposed joinery, revisited vernacular shapes. Sideboards, enfilades, tables, chairs, beds: their furniture looked both at the rustic French tradition and at emerging Scandinavian modernism. A French signature that dressed tens of thousands of interiors without ever giving up its artisanal demands.

The Guillerme et Chambron enfilade, low oak sideboard, rush-seat chair and swivel armchair have become references of 1950s-60s French vintage furniture. A signature to find for building an interior between rural tradition and tempered modernism, without ever falling into pastiche.
