Model 350 lounge chair by arno votteler for walter knoll, 1950s. New upholstered model 350 armchair by arno votteler walter knoll. Rare arno votteler chair model 350 for walter knoll. Newly upholstered in the original soft fabric. Walter knoll. Inspired by the bauhaus - founded in 1919 by walter gropius - walter knoll decided to invest heavily in modernism. He launched his german furniture maker of the same name in 1925 and the company has been going strong ever since. Most design aficionados know knoll, the furniture manufacturer of eero saarinen, harry bertoia, marcel breuer, ludwig mies van der rohe and other modernist giants. Founded in 1941 by hans knoll, it was run after his death by his wife, florence knoll, the founder of post-war american office interiors. In recent years, the company has added collections from the likes of maya lin, rem koolhaas, frank gehry and david adjaye, encouraging customers to do what some of them have always done: use knoll's "office furniture" at home.
