Large decorative ceramic plate made by Ivy Lysdal for Kähler in Denmark in the 1960s. The decoration features a graphic and expressive composition blending abstract patterns and stylised shapes in black, ivory, and green tones. The engraved lines and patterns evoke the modernist and expressionist aesthetic of post-war Scandinavian ceramics, with a certain affinity to Picasso's graphic universe. Ivy Lysdal is among the most original ceramicists associated with Kähler during the 1950s and 1960s. Her work is recognised for its experimental glazes and very personal decorative vocabulary. In very good vintage condition with beautiful glaze variations and a patina consistent with age. A strong decorative piece of modernist Danish design.
