Scheurich Vase 490-25 – amber glazed stoneware

This vase by Scheurich Keramik embodies the solar elegance of West German design from the 1970s. Its thrown stoneware is covered with a flamboyant glaze, grading from chocolate brown to golden amber, with a speckled effect typical of the "fat lava" style. On one side, a stylized flower - somewhere between a sunflower and a solar flare - seems to emerge in relief from the material.
