Still life painting signed “Thony” – Old varnished reproduction

Elegant antique painting depicting a still life composed of a bouquet of flowers, pears, and a ceramic pitcher. The work is signed Thony (lower right) and presents a beautiful classical rendering, in a warm, realistic style typical of academic compositions of the early 20th century. It is most likely an old reproduction (mixed media or panel print), covered with a crackled varnish that imitates the appearance of an oil painting on wood. This process was very common between the 1920s and 1950s. The whole is enhanced by a magnificent carved and gilded wooden frame, with symmetrical lines and refined ornaments, evoking the decorative Art Deco or neoclassical style of the 1930s–40s. This frame alone already constitutes a beautiful decorative piece.
