Lomonosov horse figurine animal in Russian porcelain by Boris Vorobyov.

Here is a very beautiful young porcelain horse, very realistic and with lovely colors. It is a horse from Lomonosov made by the Imperial Porcelain Factory of Saint Petersburg (renamed Lomonosov during the Soviet era). Founded in 1744, this factory is world-renowned for the finesse of its porcelain and the hand-painted decoration. The molds for these realistic horse sculptures were often shaped by great Soviet animal sculptors, notably the most famous among them, Boris Vorobyov, who worked for this factory from the 1960s to the 1980s. This figurine is stamped underneath with the factory's logo, the one used until 1989, and completed with the mention "Made in USSR, " so it dates from before 1989. This model of a lying foal would likely be by Boris Vorobyov; in fact, I believe I can distinguish a V engraved underneath, but I'm not certain. This figurine is in very good condition, with no cracks or chips, just a tiny flake of the glazing on the tip of one ear. This horse measures 14.5 cm in length, about 8 cm in maximum width, and 11 cm in maximum height.
