very beautiful cloisonné vase

Covered vase (or ginger jar) in cloisonné enamel, of Chinese origin. The technique: Cloisonné involves fixing fine metal ribbons (here gilded) onto the copper body of the vase to create "partitions, " which are then filled with coloured enamel before being fired and polished. The decoration: A very dense floral pattern (thousand flowers) on a background of shades of blue (turquoise blue and cobalt blue). Fine and regular workmanship. It has its original lid as well as a carved wooden base. Dimensions: According to the measuring tape, the whole (vase + base) measures approximately 26 to 27 cm in height, and the vase alone without the base should be around 22 cm. It is a quite respectable medium size.
