Small marquetry library, Louis XVI style – early 20th century

This small glass-fronted library in the Louis XVI style, made of mahogany and rosewood marquetry, features an elegant silhouette resting on four tapered legs, giving it a slender and refined appearance. It is topped with a Carrara marble surface, white veined and delicately softened at the edges, while its frieze is highlighted by a geometric chevron pattern, characteristic of neoclassical taste. The front opens with two glass doors two-thirds of the way up, revealing an interior fitted with three adjustable shelves on a rack, allowing for height adjustment according to the books or objects displayed. The lower part of the doors is adorned with a marquetry of crossbars framed by friezes of mahogany and rosewood, creating a subtle interplay of contrasts and geometry. The right door features a finely crafted bronze lock entry, topped with a delicate Louis XV bow, and accompanied by its chiselled key. The whole exudes a perfect harmony between structured rigor, warmth of the woods, and decorative refinement, making this piece of furniture an ideal character piece for a classic interior or a collector's cabinet.
