Victorian Commode Howard & Son

We are delighted to offer for sale this incredible very rare Victorian satinwood chest of drawers by Howard & Son Berners Street. This piece provides ample storage space with a so-called two-over-four configuration, featuring one to two more drawers than usual. The top right drawer is stamped with the serial number 5049 5159 as well as Howard and Son's LTD Berners Street next to the lock, with the Howard plaque inside. The chest has been cleaned, waxed, and polished, showcasing a beautiful warm and rich patina, especially in the light. One handle is missing from the top right drawer, requiring repair. A small chip of wood is missing from the top right side at the back, but otherwise, the condition is exquisite for the period. Dimensions: Height 122 cm, Width 105 cm, Depth 56 cm. Howard & Son is recognised as one of the finest cabinet makers in history, with Queen Elizabeth II owning a large private collection. The chest is Victorian in style, handcrafted from satinwood. The item is in good condition with minor wear consistent with age and use.
