African straw hat, called "tangadê" and used by the Peulh people (shepherds, nomads and caravanners) to protect themselves from the sun and rain. Most generally oval in shape, it is hand-woven by local craftsmen in natural fibers and decorated with leather. Its diameter of more or less 40 cm is one of the criteria of its authenticity. A leather rope is used to adjust the tangadê around the chin to hold it securely. This one is authentic and in perfect condition.
