Superb pair of low fireplace chairs made of turned wood with a straw seat, in the spirit of French rustic-modernist furniture from the 1940s-1950s. These seats stand out for their low and sculptural proportions, typical of the so-called "fireside chairs." Their silhouette is particularly decorative: cylindrical turned uprights, large terminal balls, elaborately worked front crossbars, a backrest with two curved bands, and a woven straw seat with a crossed pattern. The design evokes post-war French artisanal furniture, in the style of Charles Dudouyt: a robust, warm, and highly structured aesthetic, blending brutalist spirit, chic countryside, and high-end rustic design. The natural straw provides a beautiful graphic texture, contrasting with the dark, shiny patina of the wood. Their low format makes them ideal as accent chairs, fireplace seats, or decorative chairs for a bedroom, living room, or entrance. They can also be used as accent pieces in vintage, wabi-sabi, country house, chalet, brutalist, or Mediterranean decor. Overall good condition with normal signs of age. Beautiful wood patina, normal wear. Straw seats in good visual condition. Robust structure. Sold as a pair.
