Magnificent little occasional desk, or hall console table, in solid oak from the late 19th century, formerly part of the furniture of the... Senate! It was removed from the official collections, so they kept the small metal plaque that was screwed to the left under the top for themselves. But its trace remains, as does the inventory number, which was also engraved in the wood, here 8246 (note the calligraphy of the numbers!). This table is a little marvel, with its solid legs, arched towards the back and all connected to each other by crafted and screwed spacers. The screws are very visible in this piece; they are original and give it a rather charming "trade furniture" feel. The top is solid, of course, in superb condition, made of quality oak. On the left, a small drawer opens with a metal pull handle, and on the right, a very cute sliding shelf. The marriage of the "masculine" aspect of this solid oak and its purposeful construction, and the "feminine" aspect represented here by the curves of the legs and the overall dimensions or accessories, is perfect. The result is a superb piece of furniture full of charm and personality. Some repairs to the legs over time and wear from use, but it is in excellent condition and ready to use in an office, bedroom, or entryway. W: 81 cm. H: 68.5 cm. D: 44 cm. Height under the seat: 60 cm. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery available to the Paris region for 40 euros.
