Reclining rest chair by Jean Prouvé (1954-1957)

Hello, Authentic reclining rest chair by Jean Prouvé (1954-1957). Copy selected to equip the rooms of the France-United States Memorial Hospital of Saint-Lô (see archive photo in photos). Charlotte Perriand, collaborator in this call for interior architecture projects, contributed to the choice of this armchair. Designed and manufactured in the Jean Prouvé Parisian workshops, following its loss from the Maxeville (Nancy) factory, this model is unfortunately less archived, therefore more in the shadow of other seat models. *Be careful, other similar examples, from African colonies, with a slightly different structure, are confusing. Their steel, moreover, does not come from Lorraine iron ore, the “minette”, a very important detail. Several inclinations are possible, thanks to its rear rack, a very simple system, robust over time, and thus offering the user a varied choice of inclination for specific comfort needs. The cushions are not the originals, which is obvious after so many decades, and the wear (corrosion, etc.) has definitely stabilized. Perfect for a collector, here is a very beautiful piece for lovers of Jean Prouvé furniture, rare these days. Model which still remains affordable at present, but it will not always be so! “Prouvé” furniture, a sure value, constantly increasing and still in high demand. Folded, welded and screwed steel structure, its period off-white lacquering is original. The solid oak armrests, fixed by three rounded head screws and a flat screwdriver system, are in good condition, and their patina is enhanced by the years. Original black rubber pads, wear is below average, this demonstrates the quality of the materials used. The measurements indicated are those without the cushions, so you can add 5 cm of thickness with them. Passionate, take advantage, it's not every day that we discover Prouvé. THANKS
