Description
This rare egg chair is a creation by michel pigneres, and dates from 1972. It is composed of a transparent altuglas shell mounted on curved steel blades, attached together by 4 large flat screws. Its seat cushion has been reupholstered with tiger velvet from luigi bevilacqua. The shapes and materials chosen for this armchair are strong markers of the space age movement in which this creation by the french artist clearly fits. This piece is in very good vintage condition, with a few small scratches here and there on the plexiglass shell, very barely visible with its velvet seat. Michel pigneres is a french furniture designer born in the 20th century. Renowned for his bold exploration of form and materials, pigneres became noted in the 1970s for his distinctive designs, often characterized by bold patterns and unconventional materials, reflecting the spirit of the space age. Today, his pieces, such as this lucite shell “egg” armchair, remain highly sought after and embody his timeless vision of design.
