The village of stones - original hand-signed lithograph by guy seradour - ea (1922-2007) 55x76 cm. Guy jean louis seradour was born on october 8, 1922 in étaples in the department of pas-de-calais1, 2 from the marriage of louis seradour, broker at the paris stock exchange, and jeanne le bars. He studied at the lycée condorcet and then entered the beaux-arts in 1939, where he stayed only one term, preferring to work alone3. In 1940, the romanet gallery in algiers organized his first exhibition. In 1955, parisian critics discovered it during its exhibition at bernheim-jeune. It is with his austere landscapes, his somewhat miserabilist characters and his portraits of all paris, that begins what will make his fame. In 1958, he became friends with jean minet, (art gallery of place beauvau) and this meeting will be decisive for him. His participation in all the major fairs, earned him to be present at the most important international events of french art. In 1965, the museum of modern art of the city of paris, made a first acquisition: le lampiste. In 1973, a retrospective was organized by the museum of cassis, "20 years of painting", celebrating provence which is for him a source of inspiration. In 1977, he received the international prize of gemmail in lourdes, which consecrated him painter of light. He gives his characters, his still lifes, as well as his landscapes, an appearance of tranquility, serenity, mystery. He lives and works in paris, cannes and deauville. He is a member of the artistic council of the prince pierre of monaco foundation. It is exhibited in the following museums: • museum of modern art of the city of paris, museum of the petit palais in geneva; • gemmail museum in lourdes; • museum of marseille; • museum of oran; •national library; • boudin museum in honfleur.
