Glazed stoneware spherical vase signed Mougin Nancy & Gaston Ventrillon, featuring a stylised rotating decoration (bird, fish, fruits, flowers). This "spherical" piece combines the decorative rigour of Nancy Art Deco with a very beautiful use of material. The base is signed "Mougin Nancy France" and numbered 172J, a model reference noted on other examples attributed to Gaston Ventrillon — a decorator trained in Nancy, active with the Mougin brothers during the interwar period. The Mougin brothers, key figures in Lorraine ceramics who moved from Paris to Nancy in the early 20th century, extensively explored glazed stoneware and engraved/sgraffito decorations, placing their productions between Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
