Description
A.r (dick) cordemeijer "cleopatra" daybed for Auping. The frame is made of dark charcoal gray enamelled metal with teak head and footboard. The bed was painted all black. Two available in 80 cm wide André (dick) cordemeyer (1924-1998) was born in bussum. He studied mechanical engineering at the hts in amsterdam. He began his career as a builder of draftsmen. In 1952, the manufacturer of auping beds hired him as a company technician. His design for the cleopatra bed was taken into production on the condition that de bijenkorf would have exclusive rights. Cordemeyer focused more on design work and began studying industrial design. In 1954, he resigned from auping to work as a freelance industrial designer. In the same year, he became a member of the circle of industrial designers (kio) in The Hague. He has long been at the head of the management. He established many important contacts there, including wim rietveld. Cordemeyer lived in apeldoorn in a house designed by gerrit rietveld. Cordemeyer himself designed the extension, taking into account the rest of the design. Cordemeyer then designed other houses in apeldoorn and veendam. If necessary, we can deliver the fully restored day bed(s) with new paint, without damaging the large auping logo.
