Small cubist Art Deco desk in walnut veneer, Belgium, 1930.

This small Art Deco cubist desk is made of light walnut veneer on two sides. It features two large deep drawers beneath the top, four drawers in a chest of drawers on the right, as well as a sliding shelf under the top. All the drawers are fitted with brass handles. The drawers in the chest of drawers are lockable. This desk was custom made for the magnificent Art Deco private mansion Verswijver (Arthur Goemaerelei, Antwerp; architects Paul Smekens and Carlos Van der Voodt). The desk is in good original condition, slightly refreshed with shellac, with a few small dark stains on the top.
