Bronze mirror

Incredible and authentic bronze mirror, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Decorated with sphinxes on the sides and a mask at the bottom of the frame. The mask is removable as it is attached to the frame by screws. Original and beveled glass, showing some pitting as well as all the characteristics of a mercury glass. Dimensions: H. 45 × W. 30 cm. Weight: 2.15 kg. Condition: Generally good condition. Small barely visible impact on the glass, at the bottom right. A mask, or mascaron, is an ornament typically representing a mask or human figure. It could have an apotropaic function, intended to ward off evil spirits.
