Carved wooden pipe holder

Magnificent antique wooden pipe holder carved with a design of branches and leaves. It consists of two articulated parts connected by two hinges. Each part has been carved from a single piece, with great finesse and detail: the leaves are ribbed and wavy, the branches are striated... A very beautiful piece of artisanal sculpture. It features 10 "rings" on the horizontal part to hold as many pipes. It has a small hook at the back. It should be hung on the wall or placed on a piece of furniture against a wall (it does not stand on its own). It probably dates from the first half of the 20th century. It is in very good condition, with no chips or cracks, perhaps just tiny marks, but it is difficult to say if they are original or signs of use. A light polishing with liquid wax would surely restore its shine, but I leave that to you as I am unsure if it is suitable for contact with the wood of the pipes. This pipe holder measures 45.5 cm in length and 22 cm in height, with a projection from the wall of 8 cm.
