grand Louis XV style bronze pediment numbered

Furniture ornament (pediment) in gilded bronze. This is a horizontal chiseled piece, typical of French furniture from the 18th-19th centuries (Louis XV / Rococo or Neo-Rococo / Napoleon III styles). It features: • In the centre, a cartouche (or shield / "breastplate") in relief, with scrolls and volutes. • On each side, oak branches with leaves and acorns, common motifs symbolising strength and longevity. • Fixing holes (visible at one end), indicating that it was intended to be screwed onto a piece of furniture. These furniture bronzes were used to adorn the top of a chest of drawers, a desk, a bookcase, a clock, a mirror, or a frame. Dimensions: 35X9cm. Numbered on the back: 103. 388 g.
