Engraving of the Rosetta Ier from the Chalcography of the Louvre

Discover this rare original engraving of the rosetta stone from the chalcography of the louvre! This engraving is in full size, measuring 105 X 75 cm, with an engraved part of 49 X 80 cm. It is in very good general condition, clean and fresh, without freckles. The central engraved part is in perfect condition, although there are small indented marks in the low margin, as well as some usual folds or traces of manipulation inevitable in the margins related to the printing technique. The original plate used to create this engraving was elaborated around 1800 during napoleon i's egyptian campaign and is part of the famous "the description of egypt" series. This plate was printed around 1990 and is authenticated by a dry stamp in relief at the bottom of the work (reference 4915 / km004915). It belongs to the volume "antiquities, volume v", plate 54. The engraving was made by raifeneau delile del. And jean-baptiste bigant and shows the greek part of the stone with all its details.
