Born in Padua, Italy, in 1926, Gianfranco Frattini was an Italian architect and designer. He was one of the key figures in post-war Italian design. Frattini completed his architecture studies at the Polytechnic School of Milan in 1953. He initially worked in Gio Ponti's workshop before founding his own design studio in the mid-1950s. Frattini collaborated with renowned manufacturers, including Cassina, Artemide, Knoll, Bernini, and Acerbis. His creations are known for their elegant proportions and creative, artisanal woodwork. Among his most famous works are the Kyoto table (1974) and the Boalum lamp (1970). The nesting tables offered here were designed by Frattini in 1966. Additionally, Gianfranco Frattini was a co-founder of ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale), the Italian Association for Industrial Design. He received numerous design awards, including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro. His works are part of the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum. Gianfranco Frattini passed away in Milan in 2004.
