An elegant and beautifully crafted demi-lune console table dating to the 1950s, in the French Louis XVI revival style that was enormously popular in high-quality European furniture of the post-war period. The shaped half-moon top is veneered in richly figured walnut and decorated with a hand-crafted marquetry inlay design — delicate scrolling foliage, floral sprays and paired birds worked in contrasting fruitwoods, framed by a sweeping scrolled border. The upper surface is edged on three sides by a pierced brass gallery with fine dentil detailing, supported by slender turned brass column legs. A matching lower shelf repeats the marquetry work and brass gallery, adding both structural elegance and display space. A small brass magazine or letter rack sits between the two tiers, a charming period detail. The craftsmanship throughout is of a high order — the brass fittings are well cast and crisply detailed, and the marquetry remains vivid and intact. In very good vintage condition with no damage. This is a genuinely versatile piece — equally at home as an entrance hall console, a telephone table, a bedside or sofa side table, or a drinks and display stand in a living room. Style: French Louis XVI revival. Period: circa 1950s. Dimensions: 51W × 29D × 75H cm. Condition: very good, no damage.
