Pair of Japanese framing elements from a temple

Pair of japanese structural elements, like squares. Pattern carved in low relief on either side of the object. The pattern has variations depending on the face in which it is carved. Period: 19th century or earlier. They're made of wood, maybe some kind of softwood. Both of these elements come from a Kyoto antique dealer.
