We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare original Irish Georgian arrowback manor chair from around 1800 in the Gothic revival style. A highly aesthetic, collectible, and decorative chair. It is inspired by early Gothic designs in solid wood; this late Irish Georgian version is designed to be used as a desk chair. The structure is finely carved from solid mahogany, with sublime details, making this model a unique piece among thousands of chair variations. The leather upholstery is thick and durable, the wood has a beautiful warm patina, and the padding is original horsehair. The item has been cleaned, waxed, and polished from top to bottom, showcasing an authentic and reflective patina. A complete restoration, including a manual dyeing of the leather in deep cigar brown and sanding followed by French polishing of the wood, can be carried out upon request and quotation. Dimensions: height 99 cm, width 68.5 cm, depth 64.5 cm, measurements taken at the widest point. This item is available for collection from our warehouses in Wimbledon. Condition: please refer to the very detailed photos that are an integral part of the description regarding the condition. Note that original vintage leather items will always show a natural patina with cracks, creases, and wear; regular waxing is recommended to prevent moisture loss. It is also advised not to expose hand-dyed leather to direct sunlight for long periods to avoid drying and discolouration.
