HST painting "Landscape with a river" signed early 20th century

Oil painting on canvas (dating from the beginning of the last century) depicting a landscape with orange roofs and a winding river, probably the south of France. The work bears a graphite signature (L. Schmitt or similar... Perhaps apocryphal, to be identified but certainly a very beautiful hand). The style is very free and spontaneous, with beautiful material effects, not unlike the works of Auguste Chabaud. Note that this work will require some attention: rather dirty pictorial layer, to be cleaned, presence of an old restoration that goes almost unnoticed.
