B211 floor lamp by Michel Buffet for Robert Mathieu

Rare floor lamp model B211, black/white variant, designed by Michel Buffet and produced by Robert Mathieu in the 1950s. Presented at the 37th Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris in 1953, this iconic light fixture embodies the rigorous elegance of post-war French design. • Double lighting: diffuse light upwards via the shade, and directed light via the conical reflector. • V-shaped tubular metal stem finished in black lacquer, feet ending in circular pads. • Perforated conical reflector in black lacquered metal. • Circular shade in white lacquered metal. • Dimensions: H 180 × W 60 × D 61 cm. • Very good vintage condition. A sculptural and functional object, in the spirit of French modernist design alongside Serge Mouille, Pierre Guariche, or Jean Boris Lacroix.
