August Thonet No. 30 Bentwood Armchair For Ton, Czechoslovakia, Mid 20th Ce

Elegant Model No. 30 bentwood armchair, a classic Thonet design, manufactured by TON in Czechoslovakia during the mid-20th century. The chair is distinguished by its beautifully sculptural bentwood construction, with a continuous curved armrest wrapping around the back and a second gently curved inner backrest. The flowing lines demonstrate the exceptional bentwood craftsmanship for which the Thonet tradition and later TON production became internationally renowned. This example has been completely restored, with the wooden frame carefully refinished while preserving its original character. The seat has been newly upholstered using a beautiful original vintage wool fabric, selected to complement the warm tone of the bent beechwood. The chair retains its original TON manufacturer's paper label underneath the seat, identifying its Czechoslovak production. A small chip to the wood on the right armrest has been professionally restored. The repair remains slightly visible upon close inspection and is shown in the detailed photographs. A particularly elegant example of one of the enduring bentwood designs associated with the Thonet tradition, combining historical design with a highly decorative and surprisingly contemporary appearance.
