These chairs are a Renaissance-style form, named after the 15th-century Dominican friar Girolamo Savonarola. The design, featuring a scissor-like mechanism, dates back to antiquity and was originally a symbol of authority.The chairs in the image feature deeply carved details, including three-dimensional lion heads on the armrests and paw feet.
