Chinese extendable dining table in black lacquer of Asian origin (often from Hong Kong or mainland China) dating from the second half of the 20th century (between 1960 and 1980). It features a style known as chinoiserie, blending traditional Eastern motifs with more Western furniture shapes (such as the central four-legged Regency/Empire style feet). The manufacturing technique is coromandel or incised lacquer. The motifs (figures, pagodas, landscapes) are sculpted in bas-relief in the black lacquer, then painted and sometimes enhanced with mother-of-pearl or hard stones. There is a frieze of gilded Greek patterns on the border and geometric motifs on the legs, giving the whole piece a very luxurious and decorative appearance. The table is presented with its removable extension, which is an excellent point for its functionality to accommodate between 8 and 12 guests. This type of furniture is ideal for Hollywood Regency or Maximalist interior decorations. The table is in good condition with a beautiful shine and fine craftsmanship.
