Thonet No. 1 Bentwood and Webbing Folding Arm Chair

A very rare bentwood and wicker folding chair with arm rests model no. 1 by thonet; in german it is called the “kaminsessel” or “fireplace chair”. This chair appeared in the thonet catalogue for the first time in 1883. This specimen is the first and original model with the half circle rounded front of the arms - from 1885 the chair had angled arm rests. The wicker webbing seat and back have been completely redone by hand. The chair is in immaculate condition. Very rare antique piece.
